The older my son gets, the more he accumulates. He didn’t have a lot of storage in his room, so his things were everywhere. His desk was also always covered in clutter so he never used it. We wanted his room to look nice and be functional, so it was time to take action.
I designed the DIY Built-In Bookshelves with Desk in order to give him a large work space where he could easily reach his most treasured possessions. The floor to ceiling built-in bookshelves look impressive, and give him plenty of storage space. I also decided to paint the wall and bookshelves an accent color to make the whole project stand out.

You could use 1/2″ ply but it won’t be as sturdy. Good luck with your project!

Any thoughts on using 1/2″ plywood instead of the 3/4″? I’m thinking it will be easier to work with and move around.
